The fragrance history of CRISTÓBAL BALENCIAGA began in Paris in 1947. Cristóbal Balenciaga was renowned for his command of form, proportion and material, and this disciplined creative thinking gradually extended into fragrance. The earliest compositions reflected the refinement and carefully structured character of post-war French perfumery.

Between 1949 and 1962, the fragrance direction continued to develop under Balenciaga himself. Floral and aldehydic ideas were joined by woody, chypre, amber and darker facets, revealing a broader olfactory vocabulary rather than a single fixed signature.

Decades later, this heritage became the foundation for an entirely new chapter. Following a fifteen-year archival search, a historic bottle dating from 1947 was rediscovered and meticulously recreated with contemporary technology. In September 2025, Balenciaga returned to high perfumery with a new vision built around the tension between preservation and transformation.

The contemporary fragrance language embraces duality: precious natural oils meet innovative aroma materials, floral softness contrasts with incense and deeper textures, and classical French perfumery is placed alongside more experimental constructions. This tension reflects Cristóbal Balenciaga's own creative philosophy, in which architectural precision was continually challenged by radical new forms.
