Guerlain is one of the oldest and most influential French Maisons in high perfumery and beauty. Its history began in 1828, when perfumer and chemist Pierre-François-Pascal Guerlain opened his first boutique on Paris's Rue de Rivoli. It quickly became a fashionable destination for Parisian high society and wealthy international travelers seeking fragrance, cosmetics and skincare. By the middle of the nineteenth century, the founder's work had reached the imperial court, giving the house an exceptional level of prestige.

Guerlain's importance, however, is about much more than age.
