Lanvin is the oldest continuously operating French fashion house. Jeanne Lanvin opened a small millinery shop in Paris in 1889 at the age of twenty-two. Her creative universe expanded dramatically after the birth of her daughter Marguerite, for whom she began making clothing that soon attracted the attention of clients. A personal mother-and-daughter story gradually developed into a complete Maison spanning fashion, interiors, menswear and lifestyle.

Lanvin established its perfume division on the Champs-Élysées in 1924. For Jeanne, fragrance was as natural an accessory to a woman's dressing table as clothing or jewelry. Art Deco, color, embroidery and her profound bond with her daughter all helped shape the house's emotional identity, with fragrance becoming an important part of its wider art de vivre.
