MARC JACOBS

Marc Jacobs is one of the influential figures of New York fashion culture. Born in New York in 1963, he studied at Parsons School of Design and founded his namesake brand in 1984. From early in his career, Jacobs was interested in mixing high and low culture, vintage, streetwear and luxury. His early-1990s engagement with grunge was especially important in challenging conventional expectations that high fashion should always appear polished and formal.

Marc Jacobs later expanded across accessories, fragrance, beauty and cultural collaborations while retaining a sense of playful defiance. New York remains deeply present through underground music, art, club culture, uptown glamour and downtown eccentricity. Fragrance naturally extends this eclectic personality, while individuality and authenticity remain central values in the brand's own description of its identity.
