NISHANE

NISHANE is an Istanbul-based niche fragrance house formally founded by Mert Güzel and Murat Katran in September 2012. Both founders were born and raised in Istanbul and set themselves a clear ambition: to establish their city on the international map of artistic perfumery. They explicitly describe themselves not as perfumers but as creative directors. They begin by developing the story, concept and emotional direction, then select the perfumer they believe can best translate that narrative into scent.

Istanbul is far more than an address for NISHANE; it is the house's primary creative material. Its historic position between Europe and Asia, centuries of trade, spices, flowers, art and contemporary cosmopolitan life provide a landscape of contrasts from which the founders develop stories. Güzel and Katran identify storytelling and uniqueness as essential elements of their style, allowing each creative project to explore a very different mood. NISHANE luxury is expressive and international, but its most distinctive quality is the translation of Istanbul's cultural complexity into the language of modern niche perfumery.
