The history of Salvatore Ferragamo is the story of a man who always looked upward, stood up after every challenge, and relentlessly moved toward his deepest dreams.

Salvatore Ferragamo was born in 1898 into a very poor Italian family. He was the eleventh of fourteen children, and shoes in his household were considered a luxury, worn only on special occasions.

Perhaps this is why the boy dreamed of becoming a shoemaker. At the age of nine, he made his first pair of shoes for his sister. Two years later, he began an apprenticeship with one of the best shoemakers in Italy.

At 15, Salvatore moved to the United States to work in a shoe factory, later relocating to California, where he worked in a shoe store. This is how it all began.

Soon, Salvatore Ferragamo shoes were worn by style icons such as Gina Lollobrigida, Marlene Dietrich, Greta Garbo, Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Judy Garland, and many others.

When the master expanded his product line into perfumes, his fans were delighted. The fragrances radiate femininity, beauty, elegance, refined taste, and sensuality.

He is undoubtedly one of the most beloved designers and perfumers of Hollywood — and perhaps even of the world.
