Alex Lee

Alex Lee is a renowned perfumer currently working at Mane, with an impressive portfolio that includes collaborations with brands such as Lancôme, Carolina Herrera, and Penhaligon's.

Born and raised in California, his multicultural background and passion for scent have shaped his unique approach to perfumery. From an early age, he was fascinated by smells—even chasing after classmates just to catch the scent of their freshly washed hair. This curiosity evolved into collecting perfume bottles, eventually laying the foundation for his career.

Initially studying medicine, Alex realized that perfumery allowed him to pursue both his passion and his desire to positively impact others. After meeting a scientist in the field, he decided to continue his studies in Grasse, the birthplace of perfumery. In 2007, he moved to France to study French in Lyon, and the following year he enrolled in the Grasse Institute of Perfumery. After several assistant roles, he was accepted into ISIPCA.

After graduating, Alex was selected to train at the Mane perfumery school. He began at the global headquarters in Bar-sur-Loup, spent a year in Manhattan, and later joined the Paris team.

In 2013, he won the young perfumers competition “The Scent of Esxence - 5 Years of Excellence.” Since then, he has created fragrances for Maison Lancôme, Salvatore Ferragamo, and niche brands such as Sillages, Penhaligon's, and Masque Milano. Among his notable creations are Figues & Agrumes, Gold Myrrh Absolute, and Agarbathi.

Alex believes that fragrances act as emotional medicine, capable of evoking memories and feelings. Drawing from his multicultural background, he connects with people through scent, bringing a fresh and innovative perspective to the industry. His creative approach reflects sincerity, humility, and a deep curiosity for French culture and language, which have helped him build meaningful and lasting relationships in the world of perfumery.
