Annie Buzantian is a highly acclaimed master perfumer with decades of experience in the fragrance industry. She has been part of the Firmenich family since 1972, when she began her career as the company’s first perfumer trainee. Over the years, she has created more than 90 fragrances, many of which have become classics.
Her childhood, spent on the Romanian coast and in the forests of Lebanon, nurtured her deep appreciation for nature. Although she initially had no background in perfumery, her role as a laboratory assistant at Givaudan (formerly Universal Oil Products) led her to discover her passion. She was soon promoted to junior perfumer, learning under the legendary Elie Roger.
In 1988, she was named master perfumer at Firmenich, becoming the first woman to hold that position.
Throughout her career, she has worked with major brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, Estee Lauder, Marc Jacobs, and Ralph Lauren.
Her creations have significantly contributed to the development of the fine fragrance market and have earned her numerous awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Society of Perfumers (2003) and the Perfumer of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award from the Fragrance Foundation (2015).
Inspired by the limitless possibilities of perfumery, she continues to push creative boundaries and inspire future generations.
