Aurelien Guichard, a senior perfumer at Takasago, was born and raised in Grasse, the heart of the perfume industry.
Growing up in a family business specializing in cultivating roses and jasmine for leading perfumers, he developed a passion for fragrance from an early age. Following in his father’s footsteps, who was also a perfumer, he studied at the prestigious Givaudan Perfumery School.
After completing his studies, he began his career at Givaudan and collaborated with brands such as Bond No. 9, Davidoff, Robert Piguet, and Ego Facto. His expertise and knowledge have made him an influential figure in the industry, with creations appreciated worldwide.
For Guichard, perfumery is a way of life. He believes that a great perfumer must possess keen observation, sensitivity toward others, and generosity. His inspiration comes from people—their stories and experiences—which he carefully listens to. Each of his creations reflects respect for a family heritage passed down through seven generations.
In recent years, he has also taken over the family rose-growing business in Grasse, continuing the legacy of his lineage. He has created fragrances for Maison JUS, including Coffeeze, Ambraser, and Ultrahot.
In 2019, he launched his own niche fragrance brand, Matiere Premiere.
Overall, his contribution to the world of perfumery reflects his heritage, dedication, and passion for creating scents that capture the essence of life.
