Benoist Lapouza is a perfumer inspired by his love of nature and his passion for exploring new places and local flavors. As he says, “I feel close to nature and love to respect it.” His creations resemble sensory tapestries, evoking sea breezes and exotic tastes that linger in memory.
His creativity is fueled by travel and the people he meets. He enjoys discovering new ingredients to incorporate into his fragrances, drawing inspiration from everything—from citrus notes of Baja to the spices of Roellinger. He has also collaborated with renowned chefs such as Alain Passard, approaching fragrance creation like a symphony of flavors.
Benoist aims to balance sensuality with freshness, capturing sensations of space, freedom, and strength—feelings he associates with sailing, diving, or even piloting an aircraft.
For him, the creative process mirrors music, structured like top, heart, and base notes forming a symphonic composition. His designs blend natural mystique with experimental creativity, resulting in fragrances that are both complex and beautiful.
He has worked with several fragrance companies, including Takasago, Quest, and Fragrance Resources, before joining Drom in 2014.
His creations include Live Jazz for Yves Saint Laurent, Dolly Girl for Anna Sui, British Bouquet for Atkinsons, Si Lolita for Lolita Lempicka, Fan di Fendi pour Homme, and Acquarossa for Fendi.
