Bertrand Duchaufour is a French perfumer known for his work with both mainstream and niche fragrance brands. He began his career in 1985 at Lautier Florasynth in Grasse, before working at Créations Aromatiques and Symrise, where he refined his skills in fine fragrance creation.
His first signed fragrance, Amber & Lavender for Jo Malone, was released in 1995. He has created fragrances for many renowned houses, including Penhaligon's, Acqua di Parma, Comme des Garçons, Givenchy, and Christian Dior.
In 2008, Duchaufour became an independent perfumer and worked closely with L'Artisan Parfumeur as an in-house perfumer. During his 10-year collaboration, he created many successful fragrances, including Timbuktu, Dzongkha, Nuit de Tubéreuse, and Fleur de Liane.
He has also worked with niche brands such as Aedes de Venustas and MDCI Parfums. Later, he collaborated with The Vagabond Prince, creating Enchanted Forest and Land of Warriors, as well as working with Neela Vermeire Creations and Naomi Goodsir Parfums.
Duchaufour is known for his innovative use of ingredients—especially incense—and his ability to create complex, multi-layered fragrances that are both modern and timeless. His work has received critical acclaim and has played a key role in shaping the modern niche perfume industry.
