French master perfumer and director of the Givaudan perfumery school, Calice Becker once asked her mother how flowers end up in a bottle of cologne. She was fascinated by a transparent liquid that smelled strongly of orange blossoms. Later, she discovered the answer herself—and today, she fills crystal bottles with flowers of her own creation.
“I like to add a dose of intrigue, because nothing captures attention like an unexpected element,” says Calice. Her innovative approach has earned her a well-deserved reputation as one of the most respected perfumers in the world.
Calice has created several world-renowned fragrances, including J’adore for Dior, as well as scents for Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Jacobs, and By Kilian. She believes in adding an element of surprise to her creations to make them stand out.
In recognition of her contributions to the fragrance industry, Calice has received numerous awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from The Fragrance Foundation. In 2018, she served as president of the International Society of Perfumer-Creators.
