Cécile Matton is a senior perfumer who has made her mark in the world of fragrances through her creations for some of the most iconic brands in the industry. Before joining Mane as a senior perfumer, she worked with renowned fragrance companies such as IFF and Givaudan.
Growing up in Africa, Cécile was surrounded by strong scents due to the heat, and it was there that her love for fragrances began. As a teenager, she started blending scents using essences sold in Pier Import stores in France, before pursuing her dream of becoming a perfumer.
Her love for nutmeg and green chypre accords is reflected in her creations. She has said that she usually works on 10–20 perfumes at the same time and sometimes needs to take a break to reset her sense of smell.
Despite regulatory limitations and the need to appeal to a wide audience, Cécile finds excitement in working with new ingredients and exploring new directions. She believes that improving the sense of smell is closely linked to memory and recommends constant practice to enhance olfactory perception.
