Celine Barel

Céline Barel is a perfumer currently working at International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF), one of the world’s leading creators of flavors and fragrances. She is known for her unique ability to create scents that evoke strong emotions and connect with consumers on a deeper level.

She was born and raised in Grasse, France, a city known for its perfume industry, although her family had no direct connection to it. As a child, she was fascinated by fragrances and collected perfume bottles. Her interest in scents grew further during internships with prestigious brands such as Chanel, Dior, and Louis Vuitton.

Eventually, her love for creating perfumes led her to pursue this path, and she joined IFF in Milan, Italy. For two years, she studied raw materials and market products after work, alongside someone trained at the Roure school. She later passed IFF’s internal competition and entered its perfumery program, training in creative centers in the Netherlands, New York, Paris, and Grasse.

Barel has been working as a perfumer for 17 years and is passionate about decadent, luxurious, sensual fragrances and big white florals. Her favorite fragrance, Versace Blonde, has unfortunately been discontinued. Despite not having a traditional background in perfumery, her profile was recognized by IFF, and she is grateful for the opportunity to fulfill her dream.

Throughout her career, Céline has worked with many well-known brands, including Abercrombie & Fitch, Avon, Lancôme, and Loewe. She has also created fragrances for celebrities such as David Beckham, Jessica Simpson, and Shawn Mendes.

She has collaborated with many other brands as well, including Aesop, Blumarine, Canali, Coach, Diana Vreeland, Harajuku Lovers, Jesus Del Pozo, Maison d’ETTO, Norell, Scents of Wood, and Zoologist Perfumes. Some of her most popular creations include Fancy Love by Jessica Simpson, as well as Coach Poppy, Vanilla & Anise (Jo Malone London), Tacit (Aesop), and Bellissima (Blumarine). More recently, she worked on Squid for Zoologist Perfumes, which received positive reviews from fragrance enthusiasts.
