Dominique Preyssas is a prolific perfumer whose work stands out for its precision, beauty, and power. A highly skilled technician, he turned away from a scientific career after earning a degree in chemistry. He then spent three additional years studying at ISIPCA to pursue his passion for art and composition. Dominique later joined the renowned Roure Bertrand Dupont perfumery school and worked at Mane Fils—two institutions that have produced some of the finest “noses” in the world. He continued his career at Takasago before joining CPL Aromas in 2003.
He has created a wide range of bestselling fragrances for brands around the world. Dominique stays in tune with the latest trends through his love of travel and his role as an active member of the Société Française des Parfumeurs.
Outside of perfumery, Dominique enjoys recharging and finding inspiration in unexpected places. He plays tennis every week and recently took up golf. He is particularly interested in the new generation of molecules, especially those in the amber family, including ambrocenide and norlimbanol dextr.
“They are extremely powerful, long-lasting, and can be used either pure or diluted, allowing for a variety of effects—from adding volume and strength to an entire composition to creating a clear, ultra-modern amber, dry woody, or animalic trail. I have used them extensively in niche fragrances for both men and women.”
