Frank Voelkl is a senior perfumer at Firmenich with over 20 years of experience in the fragrance industry. Born and raised in Germany, he was always drawn to scents and had a refined sense of smell from an early age. He remembers the strong smells of his uncle’s farm and the scent of fresh rain, which left a lasting impression on him.
During his formative years in France and the Netherlands, his interest in fragrances deepened. He recalls the rich, warm chypre scents worn by his mother in Paris, as well as the bold and expressive fragrances of the 1980s. It was during this time that he began wearing perfumes himself and considered a career in perfumery.
Frank pursued his passion by studying at the prestigious ISIPCA in France, where he created his first fragrance, a tiare flower composition. This scent was dedicated to his Tahitian wife and marked the beginning of his perfumery journey.
As a modern adventurer, Frank constantly seeks new experiences and finds inspiration in his travels to French Polynesia. He describes the islands’ air as being filled with flowers and nature in its purest form.
Frank is a quiet yet charismatic person who believes in creating fragrances that connect with the soul. He deeply understands the emotional power of scent and aims to create perfumes that evoke “pure, unadulterated happiness.”
His work is appreciated by many, and he has created fragrances for brands such as Guerlain, Dolce & Gabbana, Hugo Boss, among others. He is also associated with iconic creations like Santal 33 (Le Labo) and Covet (Sarah Jessica Parker).
Frank Voelkl is a passionate and talented perfumer dedicated to creating fragrances that evoke emotion and happiness.
