Try Me from Geza Schoen

Geza Schoen is a German perfumer known for his avant-garde and unconventional approach to fragrance creation. He was born in Kassel, Germany, and grew up in a creative environment, as his father was an artist and his mother a kindergarten teacher.

His interest in perfumery began while studying chemistry at Heidelberg University. After graduation, he pursued formal perfumery training at Haarmann & Riemer (now Symrise), where he studied both the art and science of fragrance creation.

His passion led him to collaborate with various brands and artists, including Diesel, Ormonde Jayne, FCUK, Boudicca, and Anat Fritz.

He is best known for his brand Escentric Molecules, launched in 2006. The brand focuses on single aroma molecules, highlighting their clarity and character. This approach differs from traditional perfumery, which relies on complex blends of ingredients.

Geza has received numerous awards for his work. In 2016, he received the Outstanding Artist Award; in 2017, the Sadakichi Award for experimental work with scent and recognition related to Wolfgang Georgsdorf’s Osmodrama / Smeller 2.0 project.

His unique approach has earned him a cult following and a reputation as a niche perfumery icon. His work is characterized by the use of cutting-edge synthetic materials and bold conceptual ideas that challenge traditional perfumery. His appreciation for natural materials, fascination with 1980s and 1990s perfumery, and criticism of many modern niche perfumers have made him an iconoclastic figure in the fragrance world.
