Hubert d'Ornano

Hubert d’Ornano is a French perfumer and entrepreneur. In 1976, he acquired the cosmetics and fragrance brand Sisley, founded by perfumer Jean-François Laporte, and transformed it into a family-run company. Since 1990, Hubert and his wife have been creating designer fragrances that reflect individuality.

His business expertise was inherited from his father, Guillaume d’Ornano, one of the founders of Lancôme. When Hubert took over Sisley, he focused on plant-based active ingredients and aromatic oils—an innovative approach at the time. Today, he continues in this direction and has become a billionaire listed among Forbes’ wealthiest individuals.

He has led the company for over 30 years. His wife, Isabelle d’Ornano, serves as vice president, their son Philippe is the CEO, and their daughter Christine works as an assistant to her brother. His wife comes from a Polish royal family, which makes Hubert a count. The couple has five children.

Hubert is deeply devoted to his wife. One of the brand’s first fragrances, Eau de Soir, was created in 1990 as a gift for her. With notes of white flowers, the perfume was intended to evoke Isabelle’s childhood in Spain. For many years, it remained her personal fragrance and was only released to the public in 1999.
