Isabelle Doyen

Isabelle Doyen is a French perfumer known for her exceptional talent in creating unique and innovative fragrances. She was born in France but spent much of her childhood in Tahiti, where her scientist father inspired her love for exotic scents and tropical flowers.

She pursued her passion for perfumery by enrolling at ISIPCA, graduating in 1982. After completing her studies, she began working as an independent perfumer and collaborated with her former teacher Monique Schlinger on fragrance creation.

In 1985, she met Annick Goutal, marking the beginning of a long and fruitful partnership. Together they created many of the house’s most beloved fragrances, including Eau d’Hadrien and Petite Chérie. After Goutal’s passing, Doyen remained with the brand, working alongside Goutal’s daughter, Camille.

Beyond Annick Goutal, she is also a key creative force behind the Swiss project Les Nez, where she created some of her most innovative fragrances, including the Turtle Vetiver series.

Doyen is recognized for her creativity and emotional depth throughout her career. She is known for using unusual ingredients and creating fragrances that evoke a wide range of emotions and impressions without ever becoming overwhelming.

Her olfactory signature is characterized by tenderness and humanity. Her favorite materials include rose essence, tarragon, galbanum, blackcurrant, Hedione, and Evernyl.

In addition to her work as a perfumer, she is also a dedicated educator, teaching olfactory perception at ISIPCA and advising students to be humble, persistent, curious, and open to all forms of beauty and literature.

Her exceptional talent and creative vision have made her one of the most respected perfumers of her generation, and her fragrances continue to inspire fragrance lovers worldwide.
