Jean-Louis Sieuzac

Jean Louis Sieuzac is a highly respected perfumer known for his significant contributions to the world of modern perfumery. He began his career in the fragrance industry at Givaudan, formerly known as Roure. During his time there, Sieuzac had the opportunity to work with some of the greatest perfumers in the industry and created several iconic fragrances.

In 1976, Sieuzac created his most famous fragrance, Kouros, for Yves Saint Laurent. The fragrance sparked controversy because of its strong animalic notes, and some even claimed that it encouraged themes related to prohibited substances. Despite the controversy, Kouros became a cult classic and remains highly appreciated today.

Sieuzac continued creating fragrances for some of the worlds leading brands, including Bel Ami for Hermès, Dune and Fahrenheit for Dior, as well as Opium for Yves Saint Laurent. He also collaborated with Shiseido, Oscar de la Renta, and Eden Classic.

In 1998, Sieuzac joined Symrise, a German company renowned for producing fragrances, flavors, and active cosmetic ingredients. During his time at Symrise, he continued to create exceptional perfumes and contributed greatly to the companys success.

Despite his many achievements, Jean Louis Sieuzac is known for being modest and prefers not to speak much about his work. He believes that a fragrance should be judged solely by its olfactory qualities. His contribution to the world of perfumery has made him one of the most influential perfumers of his era, and his iconic creations continue to inspire and captivate fragrance lovers today.
