Lorenzo Villoresi, born in 1956, is an independent perfumer from Florence, Italy, who has gained international acclaim for his bespoke fragrances and potpourris. Working outside major perfume houses, Villoresi follows the long tradition of perfumery in Florence, where modern production is believed to have begun. His unique approach, inspired by his travels to the Middle East, has led to the creation of a wide range of exotic and oriental scents.
In 1990, Villoresi established the House of Lorenzo Villoresi in a 15th-century family palazzo overlooking the Arno River. His remarkable career was marked by the prestigious Prix Francois Coty in 2006, the "Oscar" for perfumers, honoring their achievements and latest creations. Villoresi is also the author of several books on the art of perfumery, offering insights into techniques, raw materials, and history.
As an active promoter of perfume culture, he founded the Accademia dell'Arte del Profumo in Florence, aimed at hosting courses, events, and workshops. His "fantasy of scents" line includes notable creations such as Piper Nigrum, inspired by African markets and the spice route; Teint de Neige, evoking the Belle Époque and the scent of perfumed powders; and Alamut, a luxurious oriental fragrance with sensual notes and precious flowers. Through his individual scents and educational contributions, Villoresi continues to shape the world of fragrance and inspire future generations of perfumers.
