Philippe Romano was a perfumer at Drom and the creator of numerous fragrances for Escada, Anna Sui, Azzaro, Lalique, and other mass and luxury brands. Born in Grasse in 1957, he grew up in a family connected to the industry; his father worked in perfume production, specializing in neroli oil distillation. Romano received his professional education at the Robertet perfumery school and spent over twenty years with the company, working in its branches in Brazil, Japan, the USA, and Paris.
In 2000, Romano joined Drom, where he created his most famous works over the following two decades. His collaboration with Escada was particularly prolific, beginning with Tropical Punch and continuing with popular scents like Island Kiss, Pacific Paradise, and Rockin' Rio. His later portfolio included notable creations such as Kenzo Aqua Pour Homme and Azzaro pour Homme Hot Pepper. Philippe Romano passed away in August 2021 following a long illness.
