Richard Herpin

Richard Herpin was born and raised in Cannes, France, near the heart of the perfume industry. As a child, he was surrounded by antiques in his father’s shop and home, which instilled in him a deep respect for beautiful things and a strong aesthetic sense. The scents from his father’s atelier, particularly those emanating from precious woods, inspired his future perfume creations.

Richard's interest in perfumery began through his interactions with master perfumer Pierre Bourdon, who was part of his family circle. During shared scent evaluation sessions, Richard developed a deep passion for the art of perfumery, and Pierre became his mentor, guiding his approach to fragrance creation.

Richard Herpin's education in perfumery was shaped by the invaluable lessons and guidance he received from Pierre Bourdon. He learned the importance of capturing the essence of a fragrance while discarding unnecessary details. Richard’s career in the perfume industry took off as he worked with numerous renowned brands such as Amouage, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, and Tom Ford, creating impressive fragrances for over 25 years.

Richard Herpin’s approach to perfume creation focuses on emotion and spontaneity. He compares creating a perfume to sketching a real-life scene, where the perfumer first captures the emotional moment and then adds colors and details. Richard loves the idea that a perfume will never be the same for two people and constantly evolves while being worn. His fragrances are often described as a harmonious blend of different musical genres, each reflecting the emotions of the moment.

The story of the Precious Liquid brand began when Richard Herpin’s wife, model Jio, had a vision of a fragrance brand of excellence that would change the hearts of many. Together, they created Precious Liquid, a collection of clean, delicate, and fresh scents. The brand aims to express individuality and reflect the generosity of God’s creation through precious oils gathered from around the world.

Richard Herpin has created many popular perfumes throughout his career, including Tom Ford Oud Wood, Badgley Mischka, Amouage The Library Collection Opus VIII, Van Cleef & Arpels Birmane, and Avon Flower by Cynthia Rowley EDP. These creations demonstrate his exceptional talent and ability to craft fragrances that resonate with people from all walks of life.
