Rosendo Mateu is a master perfumer known for his exceptional talent and creativity in the world of perfumery. Born in Spain, Mateu began his journey in the fragrance industry at the young age of 15, when he joined the Puig perfume company in Barcelona as an apprentice. After working in various departments, he became interested in perfumery and began working in the perfume production department.
Mateu's passion for perfumery led him to study elements, raw materials, and ingredients in Grasse, France, at the school of Master Marcel Carles Rour (now Givaudan), as well as several years in Geneva with Grandmaster Arturo Jordi Pey (Firmenich) and in Paris with Max Gavarry (IFF). He gained extensive knowledge and experience working with the best perfumers from around the world and created fragrances for major international brands.
Mateu's collaboration with prestigious brands such as Antonio Banderas, Carolina Herrera, Paco Rabanne, and Zara resulted in the creation of many successful fragrances that have become favorites for people worldwide. In 2010, he was named a Master Perfumer for his dedication and expertise, joining an exclusive group of perfumers with this prestigious title.
Mateu's creativity and industry experience led him to create his own fragrance collection. In 2014, he began working on his own line with his son, Joan, which launched in Spain in late 2015 with four fragrances. The collection was so well received that in 2017, they expanded it to five unisex scents.
In addition to his work in perfumery, Mateu also developed a gin formulation for the international market, bringing his talent and creativity to the world of spirits. He also worked on the scent of candies for the Epiphany parade in Barcelona, demonstrating his ability to create aromas for unique occasions. Mateu's extensive experience and knowledge have made him a highly respected figure in the field.
