Sarah Horowitz-Thran, an American perfumer, discovered her passion for fragrance while a college student in Boston. While attending Emerson College for theater, she took a job at Essence, an unconventional apothecary-style perfumery on Newbury Street, where she created customized scents for clients. Realizing her natural talent for fragrance design, she eventually opened her own shop in Boston before relocating to Los Angeles.
With over 30 years of experience in the fragrance industry, Sarah Horowitz-Thran is considered a pioneer of indie perfumery. Her scents have attracted a loyal following, including celebrities, stylists, and media personalities. Her creations have been featured in global retail outlets such as Barneys New York, Anthropologie, Fred Segal, and Nordstrom. Some of her most popular works include By / Rosie Jane Leila Lou, and Skylar's Fall Cashmere, Coconut Cove, and Pink Canyon.
