Ursula Wandel

Ursula Wandel is a highly acclaimed perfumer and the Vice President of Fine Fragrance at Givaudan. She discovered her passion for perfumery through a combination of curiosity and her background in chemistry. Initially interested in photography, her desire to explore led her to the prestigious Givaudan perfumery school in Geneva.

During her time at the school, Wandel spent her first year familiarizing herself with around 3,000 natural and synthetic raw materials. In her second year, she honed her skills by imitating famous fragrances, much like a painter studying the old masters. By the third year, she began creating her own scents, developing her unique style in the world of perfumery.

Throughout her career, Ursula Wandel has established herself as one of the top perfumers in the industry, creating fragrances for various fashion brands and celebrities. She developed five fragrances for Nina Cerruti and perfumes for supermodels Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell. To date, her most successful fragrance is "Hugo Woman" by Hugo Boss, which has received widespread acclaim.

Wandel believes that creating a successful perfume is an art that requires more than just a "good nose"; she emphasizes the importance of curiosity and an inclination for research. Her work at Givaudan has spanned over five decades, contributing to many brands including Lancôme, Adidas, Avon, Azzaro, Boucheron, Chopard, Laura Biagiotti, and Yves Rocher, among others.
