Try Me from Vincent Ricord

Vincent hails from a family of perfumers in Grasse and realized the role of a perfumer from a very early age. "I was lucky enough to be born into a passionate environment." Vincent’s first experience in perfumery came during a school internship, where he spent a week in a laboratory in Grasse—the birthplace of perfumery. “I fell in love with the atmosphere of the raw materials, listening to perfumers talking about their compositions... I didn’t want the internship to end.”

After his training, Vincent worked in many different fragrance houses across France and has over 20 years of experience. He also taught as a professor at the École Supérieure du Parfum in Paris. Vincent Ricord joined CPL Aromas in 2020 as a Senior Perfumer, working at CPL’s creative center in Paris for the Dubai, UK, and France divisions.

Vincent loves the contrast created by exchanging ideas on projects with colleagues and clients, drawing inspiration from colors, artists, travels, food, and music. He describes the creative process as: “Being in the intimacy of a blank sheet of paper and a pen, turning those emotions into a scent... It’s a magical moment.”

Outside of perfumery, Vincent is passionate about music, finding similarities with perfumery in how you hone skills to eventually create compositions. “When I need to create a fragrance for a brand, I feel like a film music composer trying to find the perfect chord for a specific scene.”
