Born and raised in the picturesque countryside of Brittany, France, Yann Vasnier fell in love with scents thanks to the lush gardens surrounding his family home. As a young man, he was drawn to the world of perfumery through visits to the House of Divine in Dinard. Determined to turn his passion into a career, Vasnier focused his studies on the perfumery exam, eventually leading him to be trained at the prestigious ISIPCA in Versailles. There, he had the unique opportunity to train under the legendary perfumer Françoise Caron.
Upon joining Givaudan (formerly Quest International), Vasnier quickly earned a reputation as a talented and innovative perfumer. His remarkable creativity and skill led to collaborations with some of the biggest names in the industry. Vasnier played a significant role in creating two iconic fragrances for Marc Jacobs: Lola (in collaboration with Calice Becker) and Bang. These scents were commercial successes and contributed to a market shift from celebrity-based lines toward designer brand offerings.
In addition to his work with Marc Jacobs, Vasnier has developed fragrances for a wide range of renowned brands, including Tom Ford, Donna Karan, Comme des Garçons, and Six Scents. Vasnier’s approach to perfumery is rooted in his upbringing, inspired by the natural beauty of Brittany and the artistry of scent. His work is characterized by an adventurous spirit and a desire to explore new paths, allowing him to develop a distinctly modern and sophisticated style. His close friendship with designer Marc Jacobs has also opened doors to new opportunities, further solidifying his status as a sought-after perfumer in the industry.
