Different creative eras have given GUCCI perfumery distinctly different moods. At times the emphasis has fallen on opulence and darker sensuality; at others, flowers, memory, individuality and expression beyond conventional gender categories have moved to the foreground. Fragrance therefore becomes more than a finishing touch — it acts as a medium for personality, atmosphere and self-expression.

Within its higher perfumery direction, GUCCI has also explored the idea of alchemy, encouraging fragrances to be combined and transformed into more personal interpretations. Innovation extends to materials and production as well: the house introduced the first globally distributed fragrance manufactured with alcohol made entirely from recycled carbon emissions.
