Women's fragrances JULIETTE HAS A GUN

Juliette Has a Gun is an independent French niche fragrance house founded by Romano Ricci in 2006. Ricci is the great-grandson of Nina Ricci and grew up close to a significant fashion and fragrance heritage, yet when creating his own Maison he deliberately wanted to avoid relying solely on a famous family name. His ambition was to challenge the highly codified world of niche perfumery and make it more irreverent, humorous and contemporary.

The brand name comes from a modern reinterpretation of Shakespeare's Juliet. Ricci imagines her transported into the twenty-first century, no longer simply a tragic lover but an independent heroine carrying a “gun,” with fragrance itself serving as the metaphorical weapon — a tool of seduction, defense and self-expression. This gives the Maison a strongly rebellious, pop-cultural personality centered on female independence.

Within Juliette Has a Gun, serious fine perfumery continually meets irony. The house plays with minimalism and provocation, femininity and gender freedom, romance and dark humor. For Ricci, wearing fragrance should go far beyond simply smelling pleasant; it should make a statement about identity. This makes the brand a particularly clear expression of twenty-first-century niche culture: author-driven, individualistic and willing to challenge the conventions of the genre.
