The Middle Eastern ritual of layering several scents to create something personal lies at the heart of KAYALI. Rather than treating perfume as one fixed composition, the brand embraces the idea that different fragrances can be combined according to mood and personality. Mona Kattan founded KAYALI in 2018, and its Arabic name translates as “my imagination,” perfectly reflecting this freedom to experiment with scent.

For Kattan, fragrance has long been connected with memory, emotion and self-expression. Her Middle Eastern heritage shaped KAYALI's approach to perfume as a daily ritual that can evolve with the wearer. Fragrances are therefore deliberately created to work both individually and in layers, allowing a composition to become sweeter, fresher, deeper or more sensual depending on how it is combined.

The KAYALI palette is drawn toward rich, immediately recognizable materials. Vanilla and gourmand warmth, juicy fruits, florals, musk, sandalwood, amber-like textures and spices sit alongside darker woody and oud interpretations. Middle Eastern traditions surrounding oud and fragrance layering remain an important source of inspiration, translated into a contemporary style that can feel playful, indulgent or intensely sensual.

KAYALI works with internationally recognized perfumers and emphasizes fine ingredients, longevity and memorable scent profiles. The visual identity extends the same sense of luxury through multifaceted, jewel-like bottles, connecting modern glamour with the decorative richness associated with the brand's Middle Eastern heritage.

A significant new chapter began in 2025, when KAYALI separated from Huda Beauty and became an independent company led by Mona Kattan in partnership with General Atlantic. Its central philosophy nevertheless remains unchanged: perfume is not a single prescribed choice, but a creative medium through which each wearer can build a mood and an olfactory identity of their own.
