Niche Perfume NASOMATTO

Nasomatto is the independent artistic project of Italian perfumer Alessandro Gualtieri, developed in Amsterdam during the second half of the 2000s. Before creating his own brand, Gualtieri spent years working within the fragrance industry, including experience with a major aroma-material company and international fashion brands. A formative period took him to Sharjah in the Middle East, where he encountered a much more physical and immediate fragrance culture — oils, raw materials and scent traditions existing beyond the conventions of European commercial perfumery. Nasomatto emerged largely from his desire to escape those restrictions.

The name translates approximately as “crazy nose” in Italian, an appropriate description of Gualtieri's method. He resists over-explaining fragrance or forcing a predetermined interpretation on the wearer. Nasomatto instead works through instinct, material, chance and intense sensory impact, allowing a creation to seem almost capable of choosing its own direction during development. Heavy wooden caps, tactile dark aesthetics and Gualtieri's unconventional Amsterdam studio reinforce the same rebellious spirit. This is niche perfumery treated as authorial experimentation — independent, unpredictable and deeply personal.
