Niche Perfume ORMONDE JAYNE

Ormonde Jayne is an independent London niche fragrance house founded by Linda Pilkington in 2000. Her creative story began much earlier through a fascination with arts, craftsmanship, flavors and scent. As a young woman, Pilkington traveled widely through the Middle East and Asia, collecting spices, oils and textiles, before living in South America and establishing a high-end ice-cream business built around unusual combinations of aroma and flavor. After returning to London, a chance encounter resulted in a commission from Chanel Fine Jewellery for a bespoke scented candle. It was following this commission that she formally registered Ormonde Jayne.

The house's British character differs significantly from conventional conservative ideas of English luxury. Pilkington is fascinated by unusual raw materials, international travel and unexpected combinations. Creation often begins with an ingredient that has received relatively little attention in fine perfumery, around which she constructs a refined but distinctive olfactory language. London craftsmanship meets memories of the Middle East and Asia without sacrificing the house's clearly British identity.

Ormonde Jayne luxury is quiet without being minimalist. It lies in material quality, carefully judged combinations and an almost obsessive attention to detail.
