Born in England, Mark Buxton discovered his passion for fragrances while living near Hamburg. More than 20 years ago, he fell in love with Paris, the city that later became the epicenter of his career as a perfumer. Buxton has many interests, including a love for wine, culinary arts, and antiques, especially those in the Art Deco style.
A chance encounter on a German TV show, where a 21-year-old Buxton and his friend attempted to identify 600 fragrances in a blind test, led representatives from Haarmann & Reimer (now Symrise) to offer him a spot in their prestigious training program in Paris. This fortunate event marked the beginning of his extraordinary journey in the world of fine fragrance creation.
With over 25 years of experience, Mark Buxton has collaborated with leading global perfume houses and created scents for luxury brands such as Givenchy, Versace, Burberry, and Cartier. His bold signature was unveiled when he created the first fragrance for Comme des Garcons. Some of his most popular creations include Paco Rabanne Black XS for Her, Salvador Dali Laguna, and Kajal Lamar. Mark’s approach is characterized by an eclectic style that blends traditional British sensibilities with modern rock energy, always striving for absolute simplicity through concise olfactory formulas.
