Sarah McCartney

Sarah McCartney was born near Saltburn beach, a unique blend of 75% Teesside and 25% Cockney. Her interests ranged from music and writing to yoga and knitting. As a child, McCartney was fascinated by creating magic spells and aspired to be a witch. At 16, she bought her first bottle of Diorella, which sparked her interest in fragrance. McCartney studied mathematics and sciences, practiced music and French, wrote books on branding and online marketing, and even learned to dance Argentine tango.

For 14 years, McCartney was the head writer for Lush, the popular cosmetics company. During her tenure, she wrote captivating fragrance descriptions for the Lush Times and studied essential oils and herbalism. After leaving Lush, she decided to write a novel about a problem-solving perfumer. This project led her to create the scents described in the book and, ultimately, to the launch of her own perfume brand, 4160 Tuesdays.

As a completely self-taught perfumer, McCartney’s journey is unconventional. She began blending her own combinations of essential oils while at Lush and continued to hone her skills after departing the company. Her unique approach to perfume creation and her diverse interests and experiences have resulted in a dreamlike and mesmerizing collection of fragrances.

The 4160 Tuesdays line is inspired by her desire to create the scents described in her novel. Her passion is fueled by her love for aromas and their ability to evoke memories and emotions. McCartney’s favorite scents include roasted coffee, Dior Diorella, grapefruit zest, flowering palm, and coastal rocks.

Her most popular creations include The Sexiest Scent on the Planet. Ever. IMHO, Over The Chocolate Shop, Zoologist Perfumes Macaque, and Eau My Soul. Each fragrance showcases her originality, creativity, and disregard for the conventional rules and norms of classical perfumery.
